SSUI increasing the grounds of creativity!

Today I see SSUI a lot different than I introduced my self as a part of Sheridan. I love the today's SSUI. Staff at SSUI including full- time and part-time (all students) are coming up with so many ideas which is improving them day by day. "Nothing is perfect but the efforts made to be perfect, are worth being imperfect trying to perfect".

SSUI not only presents pub nights but they always try to reach us with so many other cool ideas as well. SSUI's focus is all the students, the whole student body not the majority or the minority. SSUI presents a chunk of events, shows, concerts, open mic nights and bingo nights so that everyone can have a little fun at Sheridan and enjoy being a student, with all that stress of homework!

I know SSUI did a lot and they do a lot of above mentioned events bit I would like to present some of the great examples, rather than pub nights :). Lets see what SSUI got for us!

I forgot SSUI got puppies/ dogs for us during the final weeks of the semester! so cute. SSUI proudly presented the Men's Soccer National Championship and luckily we won GO BLUE! If you got an idea and would like to share with SSUI, then go for it, walk-in the SSUI office and share your views. SSSUI is for the students, by the students.

I am so honoured and proud to say that I am a part of Sheridan and SSUI! I am proud to say that yes! SSUI touched the grounds of creativity very well. Keep it up!

Love SSUI!
SSUI up-to date

Welcome! this post is nothing related to any staff, government or services offered by SSUI. This time we will go through SSUI overall, everything in a nut-shell and our main focus will be on SSUI's recent activities.

To begin with my favourite topic, SSUI is here with the new government, Board Of Directors 2015-2016.

Then the most important, SSUI is looking for their new president! so much responsibility but good thing to experience. The job is closed but they are on their way to select final candidates to interview and introduce a new president. Good Luck!

SSUI events are the best thing to discuss and experience. I have been to them and will keep going there even I graduate! because SSUI brings what student body likes, SSUI presents different themes, festivals and being an international post-secondary institution they celebrate international festivals and great days as well! Look how much they care about the student body. SSUI also keeps in mind that there are students who are not 19 yet! and some are 19+, to make a balance they present pub nights which are strictly 19+ and other all ages so everyone can have fun (smart idea) Some examples are:

I must say that the marketing staff and team at SSUI put a lot of efforts to make these pub night successful! It is not that easy. Firstly they generate ideas by brainstorming and then work on the ideas and evaluate the best ones. Then they think creative for selective ideas and come with an event. Then they step-in the stage of making posters and tickets and finally reaching people (hard task). Engaging people is something, and then making them agree to come and purchase tickets. Then here comes the event night! Not that easy, there are people behind the scene working. So get engaged and be respectful to them, as it all comes to us, to the students. Making Sheridan a better institution.

Love SSUI!

New Government in SSUI 2015-2016

Once again! the most favourite topic of mine, SSUI Board Of Directors. But this time it's nothing about me, this time I am here to talk about our new SSUI government 2015-2016.

Just to review that who/what are Board Of Directors. So the Board comprises of 12 members, composed of 4 directors elected at Trafalgar campus, 4 at Hazel McCallion Campus and 4 at Davis campus. The property and business of SSUI corporation is governed by the Board.

To give a new start SSUI came with a new website of which can be reached by http://www.ssuielections.com/, well I think this is a smart idea as 2015-16 is a new start with new staff, government and new excitement.

The nomination forms were available from January 26 to February 6, enough time to decide whether you want to be the voice of students or not, if yes then right amount of time to fill all the forms and submit it back. Then the candidates were selected to stand in elections, after all that paper work and evaluation selected candidates started their campaigning and then voting period began from March 11 to March 13. Students voted and supported their selective candidates, there is always 1 vote per student and there were polling booths in B wing and S wing, they were offering free cookies and food to the people who reached to the polls with their mind set for voting (sounds good).

After all the hard work and waiting and more waiting on March 13 at 5pm the results were announced! too much excitement, there was the retreat arrangements for the candidates, staff and guests. I was waiting eagerly for the results and kept looking at my phone, SSUI website for results! Finally the results were out and here we go!!!

Above images are the Board members of 2015-2016 from Hazel McCallion, Davis and Trafalgar campus respectively. Congratulations!

I also talked about the retreat, so here are some images witnessing the exciting and enjoyable moments from the event.

SSUI:Always trying to make student life better! Love SSUI
                    Businesses by SSUI

SSUI offers a number of services including the following listed! SSUI tries to improve the student life of both international or domestic student body.

Among the 3 campuses TRC (Oakville), HMC (Mississauga) and Davis (Brampton), TRC and Davis have the majority of services of offered by SSUI. These services are:

  1. The MARQUEE and The Den: Students call these pubs, well exactly yeah! they pretty much look like that. The Marquee (TRC) and The Den (Davis) offer food, soft drinks, alcohol, beers and all SSUI events take place at The Marquee and The Den. Events help to attract the student traffic towards The Marquee so that students can still visit The Marquee and The Den even in regular school hours. And I think this works, I see majority of students sitting in the Marquee during school hours with their friends or doing some group work while eating & drinking. These are actually pretty relaxing places.

      2.  COFFEE LOFT and BRUIN COFFEE HOUSE: Coffee Loft can be found at the 1st level above The Marquee! at TRC and Bruin Coffee House next to The Den (Davis) . By the name these 2 places surely sound like some coffee place and of course they are! but along with that they offer delicious sandwiches, delicious soda(s) like Italian Soda with cherry and hazelnut (yummmmm),coffee with tea, muffins and cookies. These places are just like Tim Hortons but the difference is Coffee Loft and Bruin Coffee House are operated by the SUUI, a service for the students and by the students. SSUI basically hires student body, the main objective behind is to serve student body, which is impressive because students get a chance to involve on campus and make some extra money.

Recently SSUI is offering the majority of students to enjoy the Roll-the-rim presented by Tim Hortons. Well no one is lucky enough to win everytime, so even if you loose, you can still win the coffee! Interesting right? But yeah SSUI proudly presents this offer that bring the play again rim to either Coffee Loft or Bruin Coffee House and they will give you a free coffee. So much fun!

3. UNION BURRITO and UNION FRESH: OMG! can I just tell how much I like that taco in a bag, the best thing which takes me to these places. Union Burrito (TRC) and Union Fresh (Davis) are considerably food services. We can get burritos, taco in a bag (my favourite), nachos and other on the go food items. Honestly, I think the way they make all this is healthy and extremely filling because you can add anything form the available options like chicken/meat, rice, cucumbers, tomato, latus, guacamole, green peppers, hot peppers, even more and then ranch, chipotle, mayonnaise and more, it is a lot actually but again healthy and filling.

I have personally been there at each place mentioned above,  they are even more fun when you visit and enjoy the services offered to us.
